All over the state, Interfaith Power & Light members will devote the weekend of February 8-10 to a preach-in on climate change, joining hundreds of congregations across the country doing the same. 30 PA congregations took part last year and 30 have already signed up this year. Sign up your congregation now. What is a “preach-in”? It can be a sermon on caring for creation, a focus on energy efficiency in your congregation, a book study or a film showing. These good folks from St. Paul’s UCC in Johnstown, led by PA IPL president Rev. William Thwing, made Valentines to send to their representatives. |

After your event, send your photos to info@paipl.org We’ll post them here. Or post them yourself on our facebook page.
PA IPL supporting congregation St. Andrew's in State College had a unique preach-in event - a beautiful evensong on Sunday afternoon that was very well attended. Lots of people stayed after for a reception. |

Our resource page has dozens of ideas. This would also be a great time to arrange for a PA IPL speaker to come to your congregation. This past year was full of wild, dangerous weather and saw record melting on the Greenland ice sheet. These are the facts; a preach-in helps explain the moral implications to our congregations. To get a flavor of what a preach-in is all about, see this inspiring opinion piece by PA IPL vice president Rabbi Daniel Swartz, and check out this list of sermons on the environment.
